Frontier Gateway Museum - This historic museum displays fossils, buffalo, Indians, homesteaders, cattlemen, settlers, railroad, Civil War replica and more. You can learn about the rich history of eastern Montana at the Frontier Gateway Museum. Murals on the exterior walls depict actual historic events of Glendive and the immediate surrounding area.

Bell Street Bridge - No longer used for motorized traffic, it is now used by walkers, bicyclists and anyone wishing to enjoy time on the glorious Yellowstone River. The Bell Street Bridge was once an important central structure in Glendive and is now part of its interesting history.

 

Makoshika State Park - It’s the largest state park in Montana, containing over 11,000 acres, and only three miles from Yellowstone River Inn. This park contains rugged badlands that are home to thousands of dinosaur fossils. A common dinosaur fossil found in the area is that of the triceratops. These rough yet beautiful badlands make for great exploration and discovery. Makoshika State Park offers a lot more than beautiful country and fossils. It is also home to the Makoshika State Park Amphitheater which is a popular location for weddings, concerts, performances and religious services. You can also enjoy an 18-basket disc golf course, a rifle range, an archery range and campgrounds.

 

Black Bridge Recreation Area - This popular recreation area offers fun for the whole family. Visitors to this park enjoy activities such as hiking, fishing, canoeing, biking and wildlife viewing. There are also picnic areas where you can enjoy a tasty barbeque after a long day of fun-filled adventures.

 

Makoshika Dinosaur Museum - This popular museum showcases fossils from around the world, emphasizing Hell Creek Formation finds. There’s also a working prep-lab and the Paleokids Project for youngsters. It’s open year-round.

 

Yellowstone River - The Intake Diversion Dam, 17 miles north of Glendive, Montana, is famous for paddlefishing. Glendive is considered to be the "Paddlefish Capitol of the World" and draws over 3,000 anglers annually to this short stretch of the Yellowstone River.

 

Miss Montana Pageant - Every year, Glendive has the unique opportunity of hosting the Miss Montana Scholarship and State Finals Pageant. Come join the three-night competition that decides who will represent Montana in the Miss USA Pageant!
